Currently, there are no FAA product guidelines, certifications or requirements for lithium ion battery fire containment products, or associated with the materials used to make these products. HOT-STOP ‘L’ solutions not only pass the Vertical Flammability testing as defined by FAA 14 CFR Part 25.853 Appendix F which results in the Burn Certifications, but Baker Aviation Services Group, the master distributor for HOT-STOP ‘L’, has gone much further by achieving FIREPROOF status for its bags (per 14 CFR 1.1 with FAA AC20-135) and is committed to continuous testing as new battery technology evolves and customer requirements advance.
Aeroblaze Laboratory is an FAA-registered independent test laboratory specializing in flammability testing for aerospace materials and conducts all the HOT-STOP ‘L’ tests. They strive to provide the highest quality testing and service as evidenced by their accreditation to the international quality standards of ISO/IEC 17025 (view certificate).
